Emergency medical services are immediate medical services provided by the hospital's emergency department.
Emergency medical care unit means a unit of an institution providing inpatient personal health care, which accepts patients who have arrived due to their need in emergency medical care, other urgently needed personal health care services and, unless otherwise determined by the head of the institution providing inpatient personal health care, planned hospitalization.
According to the personal health care services provided, there are five emergency departments types (A, A1, B, B1, C).
The emergency department must be located in all personal health care institutions providing inpatient services (the requirement does not apply to the Prison hospital, institutions providing only plastic and reconstructive surgery, resuscitation and intensive care services). In this department, emergency medical care is provided to patients around the clock, regardless of whether they are covered by compulsory healthcare insurance or not.
