Foreign nationals whose child is born in Lithuania must register the birth within 3 months of the date of birth.
Required Documents:
Parents' identity documents: Valid foreign passports or Lithuanian residence permits.
Marriage certificate: If the parents are married (documents issued abroad must be properly certified—either with an Apostille or legalized—and accompanied by a sworn translation into Lithuanian).
Medical birth certificate: Issued by a Lithuanian healthcare institution.
Note: Registering a birth in Lithuania does not automatically grant Lithuanian citizenship. To record the child’s citizenship in your home country's records, you must contact your respective embassy.
Foreign nationals intending to marry in Lithuania can apply to any civil registry office, regardless of their place of residence. The marriage is registered at least one month after the application is submitted.
Required Documents:
Valid foreign passport.
Proof of legal stay in Lithuania: (Visa, residence permit, or a valid visa-free regime period).
Certificate of No Impediment (No Impediment Certificate): A document from your home country confirming you are not currently married and there are no obstacles to marriage.
IMPORTANT: This document must be legalized or certified with an Apostille (unless international treaties specify otherwise) and translated into Lithuanian.
Divorce or death certificate: If you were previously married (must also be legalized and translated).
In the event of a foreign national's death in Lithuania, an interested party (relative, employer, etc.) must contact the civil registry office.

Applicant’s identity document.
Medical death certificate: Issued by a Lithuanian medical facility.
The deceased person’s identity document (if available).
Legalization: Most documents issued by foreign authorities must be certified with an Apostille or legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be valid in Lithuania.
Translations: All documents issued in languages other than Lithuanian must be translated into Lithuanian, and the translation must be certified by a translation bureau or a notary.
